Job summary

Ferguson & Shamamian Architects is seeking an Intermediate Architect to join our firm. You will work on highly customized traditional residential projects through all design phases, from schematic design to construction administration.

Responsibilities include creating design studies, presenting drawings, drafting documents, site visits, and coordinating with consultants and vendors. The ideal candidate has 4–10 years of experience, a degree in architecture, and a strong interest in mentorship

Qualifications

• Degree in architecture or equivalent required (B.Arch, B.S.Arch, B.A.Arch or M.Arch).
• 4–10 years of experience in architecture practice.
• Strong understanding of classical/traditional architectural styles.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and with others.

Responsibilities

• Prepare design studies, presentation drawings and materials.
• Draft and detail construction documents and perform redlines.
• Review drawings, conduct site visits, and coordinate with consultants and vendors.
• Mentor entry level staff and support career growth.

Job description

OPPORTUNITY:

Ferguson & Shamamian Architects is looking for highly motivated and talented Intermediate Architects to join our firm. This position offers the opportunity to work amongst a dedicated team on highly custom traditional residential projects through all phases of design and documentation from schematic design and design development to construction documents and construction administration. Responsibilities include preparing design studies, presentation drawings & materials, drafting and detailing construction documents, redlining and reviewing drawings, site visits, and coordinating with outside designers, consultants, and vendors. The ideal candidate enjoys working collaboratively and methodically with an interest in mentorship & coaching of entry level staff. Candidate should have the aptitude to develop management skills and a desire for personal growth and future leadership roles within their career.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• B.Arch, B.S.Arch, B.A.Arch, or M.Arch minimum required degree
• 4-10 years experience
• Knowledge of and appreciation for classical and traditional architecture
• Self-motivated with solid interpersonal skills to work well both independently and collaboratively
• Resourceful multitasker with good time management skills and ability to work under deadlines
• Highly organized and detail oriented with good problem-solving skills and graphic abilities
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ambitious, creative, versatile, collegial, and curious

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Bluebeam, and Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop and InDesign
• Comprehensive design and documentation skills including hand drawing & sketching
