Job summary
RailWorks in New York City is seeking a Junior Communications Systems Engineer to support the Communications Engineering team on rail-transit projects. You will review network systems to ensure compliance with project specs, standards, and safety regulations, and collaborate with project teams to deliver reliable communications solutions.
The role requires a CAD-focused engineer capable of producing detailed layouts, BOMs, and verification reports, with travel across NYC boroughs for fieldwork
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- CAD/Drafting certification or equivalent experience.
- Familiar with CAD software like Bentley/MicroStation, REVIT, or SolidWorks.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Effective communication and teamwork.
- Willingness to travel to NYC boroughs.
- Willingness to work outdoors and field surveys.
Responsibilities
- Create and revise design drawings and 3D models for rail-transit projects.
- Translate sketches and calculations into technical documents.
- Ensure drawings meet industry standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and field staff to support design.
- Maintain organized digital drawing files and records.
- Assist in bills of materials and parts lists.
- Support design reviews and provide technical input.
- Troubleshoot CAD issues and stay current with CAD technologies.
- Coordinate with Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Structural teams.
