Job summary

RHI Magnesita invites applications for a Junior Research & Development Ceramics Engineer in York, PA. You will support development and optimization of refractory products through lab research, plant trials, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration.

You will work with experienced professionals to drive innovation and improve product performance. Responsibilities include planning and analyzing trials, generating technical documentation, and coordinating with Operations, Quality,

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Materials Science, Geology, Chemistry or related fields.
• Experience in technical-related positions in the manufacturing industry.
• Knowledge of fundamental chemical principles of refractory/ceramics is a plus.
• Hands-on testing of raw materials using lab equipment is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) for data treatment and analysis.
• Ability to organize and manage multiple projects independently and in a team.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; able to prepare technical reports.

Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory studies on basic research/innovation projects for refractory ceramic products and raw materials.
• Plan, execute, monitor, and analyze laboratory, plant, and field trials to support product development.
• Identify opportunities for technology advancement through customer visits and internal collaboration.
• Generate and maintain product and raw material data sheets and test reports.
• Coordinate production and field trials with Operations, Quality, Marketing, and Sales.
• Analyze data and communicate findings to technical and business stakeholders.
• Supervise raw material trials and post-mortem investigations to support improvement initiatives.
• Support strategic research initiatives with sound judgment and process-oriented problem solving.
