Job summary

Process Technology is seeking a Quality Engineer to join the Quality Team in Northeast Ohio on a full-time, exempt basis. This role supports external and internal customers with reliable, high-integrity work and contributes to safety and continuous improvement.

You will lead quality activities including document review (First Article, Gage R&R, PFMEA), process capability, control plans, and supplier quality. Experience with 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone diagrams, and ISO-9001 audits is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in quality, industrial, or mechanical engineering.
  • 3-7 years of experience in quality engineering, quality assurance, or a similar role.
  • 1-3 years of experience in power supplies and/or electronics.
  • Read and understand schematics, including electronic.
  • Experience troubleshooting and problem-solving electronic products.
  • Customer-facing experience preferred.
  • Quality engineering skills such as root cause analysis, investigation, defect reduction, and data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and review Part Qualification documents such as First Article Inspection, Gage R&R, PFMEA, capability study, control plan, process validation etc.
  • Developing and implementing quality standards.
  • Monitoring, analyzing, reporting and communicating quality metrics and performance.
  • Inspecting and testing materials, equipment, processes, and products to ensure quality specifications are met.
  • Incoming, in-process, and final inspection support
  • Quality inspection, including use of measurement tools and sampling plans
  • Preparation of Quality reports
  • Responsible for continual improvement activities to enhance the quality system (5S, Kaizen lean).
  • Foster and support a world-class quality system built on continuous improvement to ensure no internal defects ship to customers
  • Lead teams through problem identification, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
  • Investigating and troubleshooting product, process or production issues
  • Supplier development, validation, and supplier quality
  • Ensure timely resolution of supplier failure, corrective actions, and preventive actions
  • Develop requirements for quality inspection of incoming material from supplier
  • Facilitate the completion of Supplier Corrective Action Request and Vendor Quality Notices from supplier
  • Provide guidance to inspectors in scheduling the priorities of the department
  • Participate in engineering design reviews and provide inputs
  • Able to conduct quality training programs for production personnel
  • Perform gap analysis to update procedures and documentation
  • Understanding and capability to work with calibration programs
  • Conducts internal and supplier audits within an ISO-9001 environment, including closing out audit findings, creating audit finding reports and determine proper corrective and preventive actions

What Success Looks Like

The Quality Engineer position is part of the Quality Team and reports to the Quality Manager. This position will require a broad range of responsibilities to ensure success. Some examples of these responsibilities are listed below (but are not limited to the following):

  • Identify and review Part Qualification documents such as First Article Inspection, Gage R&R, Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis, capability study, control plan, process validation etc.
  • Developing and implementing quality standards

Compensation

This position is full-time, salary, exempt. Compensation typically follows industry median for Northeast Ohio/the Great Lakes region. You may be eligible for an annual bonus. This is a long-term, high accountability role.
