Job summary

Southern Mechanical in Nashville is seeking a motivated Junior Project Manager to coordinate plumbing and HVAC construction projects. You will work with senior PMs, field supervisors, subcontractors, and vendors to move projects from planning through completion.

The ideal candidate has strong communication, organization, and a desire to grow in mechanical contracting. Travel to local job sites may be required; benefits include health and retirement plans.

Qualifications

• Experience in plumbing, HVAC, mechanical construction preferred.
• Past roles as project coordinator or assistant PM is a plus.
• Basic understanding of plumbing/HVAC systems and construction drawings.
• Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist project managers with planning, coordination, and execution of plumbing/HVAC construction projects.
• Monitor project schedules, budgets, labor, materials, and progress.
• Coordinate with field supervisors, technicians, subcontractors, suppliers, and general contractors.
• Review plans, specifications, submittals, and drawings.
• Assist with material takeoffs, purchases, equipment orders, and delivery scheduling.
• Track RFIs, change orders, pOs, submittals, and other project docs.
• Attend project meetings and communicate updates on schedules and issues.
• Identify potential delays, material shortages, and coordination issues.
• Assist with job costing, progress billing, and budget tracking.
• Perform site visits to verify field conditions and support teams.
• Maintain organized project files and ensure documentation accuracy.
• Support QC, safety, and project closeout activities.
• Communicate professionally with customers, general contractors, vendors, and internal teams.
