Job description

PDA is a published, award-winning architecture office in the Rancho Park (adjacent to Westwood/Century City) area of West LA. PDA's work emphasizes modern single-family residential projects, commercial/office work, and also includes adaptive reuse and contextually sensitive renovations. We advocate for sustainability in all projects. We are dedicated to ambitious design with carefully considered detailing and top-quality client service.

Position now open: Junior Project Manager/Designer with 1-3 years of experience in all phases of custom residential and, secondarily, commercial work at US offices. At this level of seniority (i.e. early-intermediate), we expect that applicants' project management experience and skills are becoming established. This position will involve independent work as well as collaborative support from senior staff and the office principal. We are looking for a curious, eager, and ambitious team member.

PDA creates working drawings with Revit and AutoCAD on a PC platform. Qualified applicants for this position will be skilled Revit users, in addition to having strong facility with AutoCAD/2D drawing platforms, rendering software, and basic office programs.

This position also requires:

  • Strong design skills and the ability to represent project design ideas at small and large scales through hand sketching and digital methods (2D and 3D).
  • Meaningful project management experience, including some coordination of client contact and the roles of consultants and contractors in helping guide a project to completion, along with office team members, as well as exposure to construction administration of single-family residential and/or some commercial work in the field and office.
  • Ability to carry out the assembly of design presentation drawings and filing, pricing, and CD sets, with guidance as to office standards for basic formatting and necessary contents. Applicants should have basic working familiarity with relevant local codes and permitting processes.
  • Excellent English written and oral communication skills, as well as strong organizational abilities.
  • Fluency with Adobe Suite, SketchUp, Rhino, and/or other graphics/rendering software.
  • This position will feature drawing/drafting and collaboration with other project team members in creating drawing sets.
  • Applicants must have a professional architecture degree from a credentialed US academic institution (college/university). Please, no applicants without current US work visas. We encourage licensure-track applicants, as well as recent graduates who have previous work experience.

An initial foundation of experience with appropriate detailing, in modern and contextual modes, is desired in a successful applicant.

PDA endeavors to create a challenging and supportive work environment, where staff learn, grow, and share their experience with others, while accepting responsibility commensurate with their ability to contribute. Salary and benefits are competitive and based on experience. We are located in a vital and amenity-rich part of LA.
