Job summary

Job description

Miscellaneous Metals, Inc. is a fast-paced steel fabricator and installer serving commercial construction projects across the Washington, D.C. metro area. We are seeking a motivated Junior Project Manager to lead small to mid-sized projects from kickoff to closeout, with guidance from senior project managers. This is a growth-oriented role ideal for someone with 2–5 years of experience. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in construction processes, excellent communication skills, and thrives in a hands-on environment that mixes office coordination with field involvement.
Salary: $65,000–$75,000 annually, depending on experience
Location: Frederick, MD and MDV region

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage assigned small projects, taking ownership of schedule, scope, and budget
  • Support larger projects under the direction of senior project managers
  • Lead kickoff meetings and coordinate across departments (estimating, engineering, drafting, fabrication, field)
  • Review contracts, shop drawings, and approvals
  • Track RFIs, change orders, and job costs; escalate issues as needed
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients and general contractors
  • Attend jobsite meetings and oversee project execution in the field
  • Ensure that fabrication and installation meet quality, safety, and schedule requirements
  • Assist with monthly billing, forecasting, and documentation
  • Oversee closeout processes including punch lists and final submittals
Required Qualifications
  • 2–5 years of experience in project management or coordination, preferably in steel fabrication, structural steel, or commercial construction
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred
  • Proven ability to manage smaller scopes or assist with larger projects
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Outlook); experience with Bluebeam, ViewPoint Vista, or Smartsheet is a plus
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to visit local job sites
  • Ability to walk uneven terrain, climb ladders/stairs, and perform site walks

Essential Physical Functions:
  • Regular site visits required; ability to walk/stand for long periods on uneven surfaces.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, and navigate active construction environments.
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 lbs.

  • Standard office equipment (computer, phone, copier, scanner).
  • Project management software (e.g., ViewPoint Vista, Bluebeam, Procore, Excel).
  • Measuring tools and PPE
Working Conditions:

This position is based in an office environment, with regular jobsite travel throughout the DMV area. Standard working hours are typical, but occasional overtime may be required to meet project deadlines. The role emphasizes collaboration and attention to detail. Exposure to construction noise, dust, weather conditions, and field hazards during site visits.
