Job summary

East Point Energy in Charlottesville, VA seeks a Project Engineer I to lead technical efforts across mechanical, electrical, civil, and controls disciplines for BESS and PV projects. You will engage in design, procurement, and execution phases, coordinating with internal teams and external experts to ensure safety, compliance, and performance.

The role supports business development, site development, permitting, contract packages, and commissioning activities, reporting to the VP of EPC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical, Systems, Controls preferred).
• Minimum of 1 year of industry experience in construction or engineering (renewables preferred).
• FE/EIT license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support and diligence project development efforts to generate scope of work documents for RFP solicitation(s).
• Coordinate interdepartmental project handoffs (Development -> EPC -> Asset Management).
• Work with Owner’s Engineer to develop technical and commercial contract packages.
• Understand and ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry standards (eg. UL9540, NFPA855), and federal, state, or local municipal codes.
• Lead Bidder evaluations, normalize proposals, conform contract exhibits for execution.
• Review scope documents and detailed engineering drawings to ensure technical scope compliance.
• Manage RFIs, drawing reviews, submittals with stakeholders.
• Support project registrations (ERCOT, PUCT, PJM, etc.) and compilation of supporting documents.
• Manage project risk register and lessons learned log.
• Actively participate in cross-departmental meetings and industry groups.
• Perform and/or review engineering calculations, analysis, and design.
• Provide cost analysis and develop recommendations for management review.
