Job summary

Life Spine in Huntley, IL is seeking a Junior Project Engineer - Design Engineer to join a cross-functional team of surgeons, sales, marketing, engineering and manufacturing to design innovative surgical implants and instrumentation. You will help with concept development, product design, validation and product launch.

Responsibilities include mechanical design, generating solid models and drawings, interfacing with vendors and surgeon designers, and supporting prototype fabrication, testing,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering (or related field).
• Minimum of one year of product development and design experience including design from machining in orthopedic industry; spine segment preferred.
• 3D CAD experience with prototyping (stereolithography).
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team.
• Able to multi-task and lead/change as needed.

Responsibilities

• Participate in mechanical design of various surgical implants and instrumentation.
• Generate solid models and design drawings/specifications (SolidWorks and Pro/Engineer preferred).
• Interface with vendors for component selection and tool qualification.
• Interface with surgeon designers and marketing personnel.
• Additional duties as assigned.
