Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an Entry Project Controls Specialist to join our Project Controls Team. You will support schedule management, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting while collaborating with project managers and teams to ensure projects stay on track and within budget.

The role emphasizes learning and applying project controls methods, with exposure to earned value and basic financial analyses. Domestic/international travel may be required, and a hybrid work model is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Entry level knowledge of project management methodology including budget development, project planning, control and assurance methodologies, and finance and accounting concepts and practices.
• Good teamwork and collaboration in fast paced environments with shifting priorities.
• Demonstrates good written and verbal communication skills.
• Entry knowledge of Enterprise Project Portfolio Management tools (Primavera).
• Basic knowledge of Project Performance tools (EcoSys).
• Good interpersonal and presentation skills for interacting with team members and clients.
• Ability to deal with many people and diverse requests.
• Good computer skills including MS Word and Excel; able to balance and prioritize work.

Responsibilities

• Supports compliance with internal procedures and gathers project progress information to update and monitor basic complexity projects.
• Develops time‑phased project cost and resource forecasts; validates project costs and updates requirements.
• Generates and analyzes earned value reports for basic projects and communicates observations to the project manager.
• Uses document management protocols to store and retrieve project documentation.
• Performs other duties as required.
