Job summary

McKinstry in Seattle, WA is seeking a Project Engineer I - Plumbing to support design tasks and project management within its Engineering and Design division. Under supervision, you’ll help with plumbing systems design, calculations, drafting, and BIM for construction.

Requires internship or 1 year related experience, bachelor’s degree in engineering, and proficiency with Microsoft Office; Revit preferred; MATLAB, VBA, Python, InDesign, IES-VE advantageous. Onsite construction experience welcome.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent work experience.
• Internship or 1 year related field experience required; onsite construction experience welcome.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; Revit preferred; other CAD/BIM tools welcome.
• Familiarity with MATLAB, VBA, Python, InDesign, IES-VE and related software useful.
• Engineering in Training Certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Documents project correspondence, issues, decisions and directions.
• Learns and follows McKinstry Engineering standards and procedures.
• Contributes to tasks on multiple projects and timelines concurrently.
• Manages own workload to deliver assigned tasks on time and in budget.
• Identifies training, coaching, and support needed to complete tasks.
• Develops plumbing systems design, calculations, pipe materials, equipment selection and coordination.
• Performs engineering calculations, design, and drafting tasks.
• Produces design drawings and BIM for construction.
• Gains understanding of the technical foundation of design activities.
