Job summary

Framatome in Lynchburg, Virginia, is seeking an Electrical Engineer to contribute to design, development, analysis, testing, and field support for safety‑related nuclear systems.

You will collaborate with system architects, software engineers, cybersecurity specialists, and licensing teams to ensure solutions are technically integrated, compliant, and licensable. A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering is required, with CAD and programming basics beneficial.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Exposure to use of CAD modeling and computer programming skills.
  • Basic knowledge of related engineering standards, techniques and criteria.

Responsibilities

  • Perform standard engineering assignments typically in areas of design, development, analysis, evaluation, testing, preparation of specifications, execution of field tasks, resolution of field problems, and resolution of quality events.
  • Develop awareness of government regulations, organization, industry and customer engineering standards with support of senior staff.
  • Under a mentor’s guidance, evaluate, select and apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgement in making minor adaptations and modifications.
  • Assist in the translation of system and regulatory requirements into detailed hardware design requirements, design specifications, and implementation plans.
  • Support development and review hardware designs, system architectures, cabinet layouts, Bills of Materials, system cabling interfaces, and cabinet power design.
  • Assist in the definition of equipment setups/monitoring for seismic, environmental, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) tests.
  • Support power distribution analysis, heat load calculations, response time evaluations, and uncertainty analyses for safety related systems.
  • Provide support for SAP Material Master data and Bill of Materials (BOM) management activities.
  • Assist in developing and executing test methods, procedures, and validation plans.
  • Support development and execute Commercial Grade Dedication (CGD) plans and associated reports.
  • Work closely with system architects, software engineers, cybersecurity specialists, and licensing teams to ensure solutions are technically integrated, compliant, and licensable.
