Job summary

GDIT is seeking a Network Security Engineer Junior to support CBP’s Security Operations and engineering efforts in Ashburn, VA. You will oversee firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and NAC, while aligning networks with federal standards and risk controls.

Requires 3+ years in network/security engineering, familiarity with NIST/ISO CIS frameworks, and a Bachelor’s degree preference. Onsite role with optional flexible work arrangements.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years hands-on network or security engineering experience.
• Experience with enterprise-grade firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and NAC tools.
• Understanding of network protocols, architecture, and security best practices.
• Familiarity with regulatory and compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, CIS).

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain network security technologies including firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs and NAC.
• Analyze network security architectures and mitigate threats and risks.
• Monitor security events, investigate incidents and recommend actions.
• Develop and maintain network security policies, standards, and procedures.
