Job summary

Google Austin, TX is seeking a Network Operations Engineer, University Graduate to join our global network team. You will help deploy, maintain, and operate private data networks, collaborating with PMs, engineers, and field staff to ensure reliability and scale for users worldwide.

The role emphasizes learning and contributing to design, installation, activation, and commissioning across data centers and metro points of presence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering, Telecom Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with network routing protocols, design and troubleshooting, IP routing, LAN switching, and data center operations.
• Direct experience working within a network operations environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor network dashboards and alerting systems (e.g., Incident Response Management for anomalies, classify severity, and act on alerts within defined SLOs).
• Troubleshoot and resolve low to moderate complexity network incidents affecting wired/wireless networks, routing, switching, and firewalls by following SOPs.
• Implement routine network changes, such as port configurations, VLAN assignments, and software updates, following Change Requests and performing verifications.
• Maintain network diagrams, manage tickets, coordinate with vendors/ISPs, and escalate high-impact issues with detailed diagnostics.
