Job summary

Southwest Carriers is seeking a Network Engineer to plan, implement, and optimize organization networks across multiple sites in a fast-paced, client-focused environment. The role emphasizes configuring and maintaining network hardware, ensuring security, and coordinating with contractors and internal teams.

You will guide junior staff, troubleshoot complex issues, and work remotely within allowed states. A strong foundation in TCP/IP, WAN, and network analytics is essential.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED and a four-year degree in a related field or equivalent training.
• Experience with network gear and Cisco IOS/NXOS; TCP/IP and WAN networks.
• Ability to mentor/guide others and provide technical support to teams.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Experience with network analysis and monitoring tools (e.g., Wireshark).
• Willingness to work in a remote role with state restrictions.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement new network configurations and improve existing network efficiency.
• Install, configure, and support network hardware.
• Procure network hardware and manage contractors involved in network setup.
• Design routing and switching to optimize network performance and security.
• Recommend changes to improve network designs and decide on hardware or software needs.
• Provide technical guidance or support for development or operations of systems.
• May perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
• Assist with ongoing troubleshooting and optimization as needed.
