Job summary

ASM Research is seeking a Junior Network Engineer to support planning, configuration, and day‑to‑day operation of enterprise network infrastructure across cloud and hybrid environments. The role emphasizes hands‑on configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and documentation to ensure performance and compliance in a regulated federal IT environment.

You will work under senior engineers, configuring routers/switches, implementing OSPF/BGP, and aiding SDN deployment with Python or Ansible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related IT field.
• 1–3 years of experience with enterprise or cloud network environments.
• Foundational knowledge of routing, IP addressing, subnetting, SDN, and automation concepts.
• Ability to obtain/maintain an active Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Configure and manage routers, switches, and virtual network components (VLANs, VPNs, subnetting) for secure connectivity across on‑prem and cloud environments.
• Implement and support routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP; optimize traffic for reliability and availability.
• Assist with SDN deployments and network automation using Python or Ansible.
• Implement foundational security controls (firewalls, ACLs, segmentation) aligned to enterprise/government baselines.
• Monitor network performance, analyze logs, and troubleshoot incidents to restore services.
• Support cloud networking constructs (VPCs, load balancers, hybrid connectivity) with senior engineers.
• Document network architectures, configurations, standards, and procedures for audits and continuity.
• Contribute to capacity planning and disaster recovery activities for reliability.
