Position Details (Junior Media Planner — Programmatic Display)
Our client base leverages Propellant Media’s ability to customize audiences to local needs and deliver superior performance on high volumes of localized campaigns.
This role is built as a fast-track growth position. You will start hands‑on in our programmatic display department — building, trafficking, and optimizing campaigns across platforms like Simpli.fi, StackAdapt, GroundTruth, and OneView/Roku. As you demonstrate mastery of campaign builds and performance analysis, you will transition into project management in tandem with the Media Planning team, helping with reporting, communication, and strategy for those relationships.
Work in advertising sales, event marketing, sports marketing, radio, newspaper and magazine publication, or online advertising is a plus.
Reports To: VP of Omnichannel Media
Phase 1 Responsibilities — Programmatic Campaign Builds (First 3 months)
- Train on building and optimizing programmatic display, geofencing, and OTT/CTV campaigns across platforms including Simpli.fi, StackAdapt, GroundTruth, and OneView/Roku.Previous entry level experience with programmatic required
- Review campaign builds for accuracy and ensure all programmatic and digital campaigns are built properly with thorough spot checks and quality assurance
- Manage and optimize budget pacing and implementation across active campaigns
- Build, implement, and troubleshoot pixel tagging and conversion tracking through Google Tag Manager
- Conduct detailed keyword and audience market research to inform targeting strategy
- Create, manage, and optimize retargeting audiences
- Pull programmatic and geofencing reports through TapClicks and analyze performance data; provide interpretation of such data and strategic steps to meet the client’s core goals and objectives
- Evaluate campaign performance from both granular and high-level perspectives
- Apply critical thinking to troubleshoot campaign issues (delivery, pacing, tracking) and provide data-driven recommendations
- Suggest and implement optimization techniques for active campaigns
- Gain access to client accounts and manage onboarding steps for new campaigns
- Track deliverables, manage workflow, and maintain deadlines in Monday.com
- Leverage AI tools (ChatGPT, automation) for workflow, reporting, and optimization efficiency
Phase 2 Responsibilities — PROJECT MANAGEMENT MEDIA PLANNING(starting month 4)
- Partner with Media Planners in project managing and assisting in the ongoing relationship management and account growth of digital marketing campaigns.Will begin with a portfolio of smaller to midsize agencies and direct brands.
- Proactively assist with project management of new and existing relationships alongside media planning team
- Prepare and deliver campaign updates in weekly and monthly client meetings
- Translate campaign results into clear, strategic stories that connect data to the client’s business goals
- Understand the client’s business needs and provide clients with tools and assets to achieve stated objectives
- Partner and assist media planners (VPs and Partners) with strategy development and kickoff calls for existing and new clients
- Facilitate and coordinate campaign execution between all teams
- Assist with new business development pitches and media plan development
- Collaborate cross-departmentally (Client Services, Analytics, Paid Media, Creative) to ensure integrated campaign execution
- Maintain a high-level knowledge of up-to-date best practices and strategies in the management of online media (programmatic, Google Ads, SEO, HubSpot, and social media)
- Work with senior leadership at Propellant Media on new growth initiatives at the agency
- Note: Added responsibilities outside the scope of said role may arise from time to time (i.e., creative assets developed from our creative director)
- Proficiency in (or strong aptitude to learn) programmatic platforms: Simpli.fi, GroundTruth, OneView/Roku, StackAdapt
- Excel and Google Sheets proficiency
- Keyword and audience research
- Monday.com or comparable project management tool proficiency
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy across campaign builds and reports
- Critical thinking and strong interpersonal skills
- Self-sufficiency in learning new platforms, tactics, and AI tools
- StackAdapt, Simpli.fi and TapClicks training and/or certifications (or willingness to attain within 3 months of employment)
Basic Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent digital marketing coursework
- 1-2 years of digital marketing experience
- Experience with location-based digital advertising or programmatic platforms such as Trade Desk, Stackadapt, Simplifi or other DSP platforms.
- Exposure to Google Ads, Display, Meta, or offline channels is a plus
- The following certifications are a plus: Google Ads Certification, Google Analytics Certification, Meta Blueprint Certification (or a willingness to attain within 3 months of employment)
