Job summary

General Micro Systems, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the full product development lifecycle for embedded electronics enclosures in California.

The role focuses on transitioning concepts into manufacturable hardware, leveraging SolidWorks and EPDM to deliver robust mechanical designs. Qualifications include a BS in Mechanical Engineering, 2–3 years of relevant experience, and strong thermal design skills.

Qualifications

• BSME required with electronics enclosure experience.
• 0Minimum 2–3 years of relevant mechanical design experience.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks; EPDM experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of thermal management and packaging for electronic systems.
• Proof of SAE team participation is required.

Responsibilities

• Design from concept to product realization using 3-D modeling (SolidWorks; EPDM).
• Mechanical design of machined metal parts, sheet metal components, and molded plastics.
• Material selection, tolerances, thermal solution design, and human interface elements.
• Develop documentation such as exploded assemblies, BOMs, and engineering analyses.
• Coordinate with electronics design team and vendors for prototyping and cost considerations.
• Support mechanical-related testing including thermal, shock, vibration, MIL standards, and safety.
