Job summary

Mainspring Energy in Menlo Park is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer focused on electrical enclosures and cables to drive performance and reliability. You will lead projects from requirements through testing and release, guiding cross‑functional reviews and ensuring subsystems meet aggressive technical targets.

The role requires hands‑on sheet metal design, thermal modeling, and SolidWorks CAD with data management; CFD/FEA knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications

BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited program; senior level scaled by experience.
Experience owning electrical enclosure and/or cable design from concept to launch.
Strong sheet metal design skills for medium-volume production and DFx.
Solid understanding of thermal modeling and integration into system designs.
Experience with CAD tools like SolidWorks, PDM, CFD/FEA is a plus.

Responsibilities

Lead electrical enclosure and cable design projects from requirements through release.
Collaborate with reliability, testing, and manufacturing to ensure performance and manufacturability.
Balance cost, safety, and system reliability while driving iterations.
Coordinate cross-functional reviews and supplier engagement for production deployment.
Develop hardware requirements, prototyping, testing, and tooling to meet milestones.
