Job summary

Actalent seeks an entry-level Mechanical Drafter I to create detailed CAD drawings for machinery and tooling in a hands-on, on-site environment in Pontiac, IL. You will translate engineering concepts into precise drawings, dimensions, and documentation to support manufacturing and product development.

You will work with engineers and production staff, learning Siemens NX and other CAD tools while adhering to drafting standards and maintaining high attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Entry-level role focusing on CAD drawing creation and documentation.
• Foundational CAD knowledge; ability to learn Siemens NX and other tools.
• Must follow drafting standards and maintain accuracy in drawings.
• Strong communication and collaboration with engineering and production teams.
• 2 years CAD modeling or drafting experience (foundational) acceptable in candidates.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed working diagrams and drawings with dimensions and notes.
• Create design drawings for equipment, dies, tools, and controls using CAD.
• Produce orthographic, schematic, and isometric views to show relationships.
• Develop blueprints for components and assemblies as needed.
• Apply math to refine specifications and ensure accuracy of drawings.
• Annotate drawings with clear instructions for manufacturing and QA.
• Check dimensions and assign material codes as required.
• Coordinate with team to resolve drafting or design issues.
