Job summary

SpiderRock Technology Solutions in Chicago seeks a Junior Market Data Engineer to help design and develop the SpiderRock platform. You will learn, participate in engineering discussions, and contribute to market data feeds, reference data loaders, APIs and related software.

The role is full-time in our Chicago office and reports to the Head of Data Technologies. You will grow technical breadth while building robust data processing capabilities for clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 1–3 years of software development experience.
• Experience with Linux and AWS is a plus.
• Strong C#, .NET, R, Python, and REST skills.
• Excellent debugging and problem solving.
• Able to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure technology environment.
• Strong communication with end users and managing expectations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in debugging and analyzing market data feeds, user APIs, and REST services.
• Learn about financial markets and data protocols.

Job description

The Junior Market Data Engineer will contribute to the design and development of the SpiderRock platform. This role will learn, participate in engineering discussions, and contribute to the various components of the SpiderRock Market Data feeds, reference data loaders, APIs and software. This is a full-time salaried position in our Chicago office and reports to the Head of Data Technologies.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Learn and gain experience on a variety of Windows based C# technologies and AWS technologies
• Assist in debugging and analyzing our market data feeds, user APIs (GUI, MySQL, REST API)
• Learn about financial markets and market data protocols
• Work with DevOps, IT and client support teams to troubleshoot issues
• Deep dive learning sessions on the SpiderRock software philosophy
• Learn our Agile methodology
• Provide SpiderRock development teams and business units with software solutions and ideas
• Contribute to our client support team's software quality assurance
• Assist integration efforts for SpiderRock's growing client base

WHAT SPIDERROCK IS LOOKING FOR

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
• Minimum 1-3 years' experience in software development
• Experience in the financial markets is a plus
• Experience with Linux, GPUs, low latency applications is a plus.
• Demonstrable C#, .NET, R, Python, REST skills
• Debugging and problem solving
• Excellent programming skills
• Strong work ethic
