SpiderRock is seeking a Junior Sales Trader for our Chicago office to support equity options trading and ensure smooth trade execution and settlement. The role involves assisting the Sales and Trading team, managing order flow, and building strong client relationships.

Job description

We are looking for a Junior Sales Trader to assist the derivatives sales and trading team and will play a crucial role in supporting our Concierge Desk and electronic Equity Options ATS trading platform. This role will ensure the smooth execution and settlement of trades and provide exceptional client service. This role will work in our New York office located in the financial district.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Assist SpiderRock’s NY Sales and Trading team with order handling and execution of client equity orders.

Work closely with our sales teams to support overall client coverage both on our ATS and NY Concierge Desk with multiple Client Access points.

Establish strong relationships with current and prospective clients.

Manage order flow across multiple execution paths both high and low-touch.

Support the ATS Trouble Desk – Middle office concentrating on Customer Breaks, Affimation, and Settlement issues on a timely basis in both US Stock and Options.

Facilitate client ATS training, feedback, and routing orders.

Reconciling trade flow from initiation through clearing, including internal components and back to the fully disclosed clearing banks and brokers.

Perform triage and escalate technical issues to appropriate teams.

Act as a liaison between Trading and SpiderRock’s operations, quality assurance, and development teams.

Investigate and address settlement and trading failures to minimize all market and operational risk.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Bachelor degree in finance, economics, business, math, or equivalent professional work experience

1 – 5 years’ experience in the financial services industry, preferably in derivatives trading or middle office role

Deep knowledge of options and listed equity derivatives

Understanding of US listed Equity Options Market structure, exchange clearing, and settlement process

Series 7, 63, and 57 are required or expected to attain within 6 months of hiring

Experience of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Demonstrable experience with sales and trading tools (i.e. Bloomberg) and other communication tools (i.e. Ice Chat), Order Management and Trading Systems (i.e. Trafix OMS)
