Job summary

Austal USA is seeking a Preventive Maintenance Team Member to work on Naval and Commercial ships under construction in Mobile, Alabama. The role focuses on preventing equipment failures by performing scheduled maintenance and inspections, maintaining readiness, and recording conditions.

The position requires up to 1 year of relevant experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and understanding of propulsion and power generation equipment.

Qualifications

  • Zero to 1 year of maintenance/safety/mechanical install experience in a shipyard, marine, aerospace, or offshore environment.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills.
  • General understanding of mechanical and electrical propulsion and electrical power generating equipment.
  • Basic understanding of diesel engines and gas turbines helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts preventive maintenance according to a schedule of planned maintenance actions.
  • Establishes a maintenance schedule, then plans and conducts that maintenance as established.
  • Performs equipment checks, oil changes, lubrication, and other preventive procedures.
  • Records equipment conditions including deterioration and corrosion.
  • Follows established procedures, manuals, and guidelines to schedule, plan, and perform job functions.
  • Ensures systems readiness for activation.
  • Establishes basic understanding of Austal USA procedures POS 103, 126, 127 and 130.
