Job summary

ACDi is seeking a Junior Manufacturing Engineer to advise on and improve manufacturing processes, promoting efficient use of personnel and facilities. You will work on SMT and PCB assembly workflows, design tooling, and collaborate with vendors to meet production schedules.

The role emphasizes data analysis for defect trends, problem definition, and clear communication across teams. A Bachelor’s degree in engineering and up to 3 years of related experience are expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; mechanical or industrial engineering field preferred.
  • 0–3 years of related experience.
  • Ability to review data for defect trends and implement corrective actions.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access).

Responsibilities

  • Develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing methodologies, using knowledge of product design, materials and tooling.
  • Confer with vendors and customers to determine specifications and arrange for equipment purchases.
  • Estimate production times and assist with staffing and tooling costs in production quotations.
  • Discuss capabilities and schedules with management to facilitate production.
  • Plan and analyze workflows for PCB assemblies and electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Design and document tooling usage and document procedures.
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures and perform preventative maintenance.

Other duties may be assigned.Develop, evaluate and improve current manufacturing methodologies, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods and quality control standardsConfer with vendors and customers to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials or partsEstimate production times and assist with planning staffing requirements and costs related to tooling in the production quotation processConfer with management and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities and production schedules to facilitate production processesAnalyze and plan workflow of surface mount, thru-hole printed circuit boards and electro-mechanical assembliesDesign, sketch, implement and document the utilization of specialty assembly toolsConfigure and calibrate production equipment as necessary to support production needsTroubleshoot common equipment failuresRepair equipment on the production floor using standard electrical and mechanical measuring equipmentDevelop procedures per ISO/AS9100D/J-STD-001 standardsManage and perform preventative maintenance on equipment, both electrical and mechanicalAssist with the creation or create production software programs for the SMT machines, AOI’s or other production area equipment as requiredContact equipment manufacturers and suppliers for equipment troubleshooting, evaluation of equipment for replacement and evaluation of new equipment manufacturers as neededOversee and provide guidance on tasks associated with bonding adhesives, such as EP30AO and solder paste, and specialized processes, specifically conformal coatingDevelop and implement operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product qualityIdentify and evaluate new tools that allow each group to perform in the most efficient mannerVerify new and existing machines and equipment to ensure fulfillment of contract specifications and requirementsOther duties as assignedSPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSThe requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
