Job summary

Stout seeks an analyst in its Machinery & Equipment group to support valuation of tangible assets across diverse industries. You’ll perform financial, industry and technical analyses, and, when required, field inspections, contributing to reports for private and public companies.

You’ll work with senior staff to build foundational valuation skills, leverage AI tools to accelerate research, and deliver clear, well-documented analyses for client engagements.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of relevant internship or professional experience.
• 4-year degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or other quantitative discipline.
• Minimum cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0 required.
• Ability to travel.
• Foundational understanding of financial theory, economics, accounting principles, and financial statement analysis.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with a general knowledge or interest in machinery and equipment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with AI tools, such as ChatGPT and Claude; ability to build organized analyses and clearly document workpapers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to summarize findings clearly and professionally.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive financial, industry and technical analyses to support valuation conclusions across a wide range of industries.
• Perform field inspections when required as part of a valuation project.
• Develop and document well-supported valuation analyses and reports for privately held and public corporations spanning numerous industries.
• Participate in client or management meetings providing substantive input on valuation methodologies, assumptions and conclusions.
• Prepare comprehensive deliverables and supporting analysis including presentations, analysis packets, and written narrative reports.
