The Python Software Foundation is looking for a junior engineer to join its HFT architecture efforts. This fully remote role focuses on turning raw order-book records into validated models, alongside more experienced engineers handling data preparation and end-to-end experiments.
You will write Python daily, with tests, and be able to explain machine learning basics, including time-series cross-validation. A demonstrated project you can discuss is required, as the team values practical, hands-on
HFT Architecture builds short-horizon price prediction and the trading system around it. This role works on the pipeline that turns order-book records into validated models, next to more experienced engineers: data preparation, experiments end to end, and the checks that keep the future out of a training set.
Fully remote, from anywhere in the world. Junior.
Base salary: USD 125,000–155,000 a year.
You write Python every day, with tests; can explain the machine learning basics, including why ordinary cross-validation breaks on time series; and have one project of your own you can show and talk through.
We build short-horizon price prediction and the trading system around it: the forecast from order-book data, the rules that trade on it, the risk layer, and the path from a market event to an order. One market and one horizon at a time, and every measurement written up with its sample and its limits.
