Lafayette YMCA seeks a junior lifeguard to join the safety team at the Lafayette, CO location. You will act as a second responder and work closely with senior guards to keep the pool safe and welcoming.

Responsibilities include ensuring participant safety, maintaining water quality, and assisting guests. Weekend availability is required; bilingual staff may receive a +10% differential for fluency in Spanish and English.

Qualifications

• Must hold current YMCA Lifeguard or Red Cross Lifeguard certification.
• Current First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and Oxygen Administration certifications.
• Maintain certification readiness and lifeguard skills per YMCA standards.

Responsibilities

• Advocate for safety and wellbeing of members and guests; keep the pool welcoming.
• Ensure safety of participants in the pool or hot tub area.
• Maintain pool cleanliness, perform water testing and basic problem-solving.
• Relate positively to staff, members, program participants and children.
• Fulfill other duties as assigned.

Junior Lifeguards are a valued part of our safety team serving as second responder and working in conjunction with more senior guards. Our YMCAs offer memberships, fitness programs, youth sports, aquatics programs, social opportunities, and early childhood education for the Northern Front Range.
