Job summary

The YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region is seeking a vigilant Lifeguard to ensure the safety of patrons at our aquatic facility. You will explain safety rules, enforce policies, and maintain order in pool areas and locker rooms.

Responsibilities include constant surveillance, responding to emergencies, providing first aid, and keeping accurate records. A swim test and lifeguard training are required or offered by the Y.

Qualifications

  • Must pass a swim test and skills assessment.
  • Proficient communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Physically fit, agile and dexterous.
  • Completion of lifeguard training is required or offered by the YMCA.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing activities at aquatic facilities.
  • Explaining and enforcing rules, regulations and policies to ensure safety.
  • Maintaining constant surveillance of pool area with rescue-ready posture.
  • Warning swimmers about unsafe situations.
  • Responding to emergencies and rescuing swimmers in danger.
  • Performing first aid procedures when needed.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of all areas.
  • Maintaining records and reports.

OverviewThe YMCA of the Pikes Peak region is looking to recruit an observant Lifeguard to ensure the safety of visitors to our aquatic facility. The Lifeguard will explain safety rules to patrons, warn them about unsafe situations, and enforce policies on showers and proper attire. You will play an instrumental role in maintaining orderliness by inspecting swimming pool areas and locker rooms.This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. You will maintain pool equipment and monitor and record pool temperatures. To ensure success you need to assess situations swiftly and make judicious decisions regarding the safety of swimmers.
