Job summary

The Phoenix Group in New York seeks a Junior BI & Analytics Engineer to join its data and analytics team. You will build and maintain BI dashboards and analytics solutions providing investment, portfolio, finance, and operations with accessible data and insights.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years in private equity or asset management, hands-on experience with Power BI, Sigma Computing, SQL, and dbt, and a passion for translating business questions into scalable data models and dashboards.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years in BI, analytics engineering, data analytics.
• Experience in private equity, asset management, or related financial services.
• Hands-on with Power BI and/or Sigma Computing.
• Hands-on with dbt, building data models and transformations.
• Strong SQL skills.
• Experience with financial or investment data.
• Strong Excel skills and ability to scale manual reporting.
• Effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Attention to detail and analytical thinking.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and enhance BI dashboards, reports, and analytics solutions using Power BI and Sigma Computing.
• Develop and maintain dbt models to transform raw data into analytics-ready datasets.
• Write and optimize SQL queries for data transformation, reporting, and analysis.
• Partner with investment, portfolio management, finance, operations, and other teams to understand requirements.
• Translate business questions into intuitive dashboards, KPIs, and scalable data models.
• Work with data from multiple sources to support investment and portfolio reporting.
• Perform data validation, testing, and quality checks for reporting accuracy.
• Automate existing manual and Excel-based reporting processes; support scalable analytics growth.
• Assist senior data team members with ad hoc analysis and broader data initiatives.
