Job summary

Boise Parks and Recreation is seeking a Junior Ice Skating Instructor to help youth and adults build confidence and skills on the ice. The role involves leading engaging lessons, fostering a safe learning environment, and working with families in the City of Boise community.

Applicants must be at least 15 years old, pass background checks, and complete required certifications within one month. This is a part-time position with evenings and weekends, located at City ice facilities.

Qualifications

  • Must be a member of U.S. Figure Skating through a recognized figure skating club or as an individual.
  • Learn to Skate USA Instructor Certification within one month of date of hire.
  • Must attend Junior Instructor orientation.

You'll assist with fun, engaging lessons while helping create a safe, positive learning environment for skaters of all ages. If you're passionate about skating, enjoy working with people, and want to gain valuable leadership experience, this is a great opportunity to get started. This position is open to applicants 15 years of age and older.

Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
Must be:
  • a member of U.S Figure Skating through a recognized figure skating club or as an individual.
  • complete Learn to Skate USA Instructor Certification within one month of date of hire.
  • must attend Junior Instructor orientation.
Licensing And Other Requirements
  • U.S. Figure Skating Membership

  • Learn to Skate USA Certified Instructor

Special Requirements
Applicants must be able to pass:
  • City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation.
Knowledge of:
  • Ice skating techniques.
Ability to:
  • Maintain good relations with parents and skaters.
  • General customer service standards.
  • Interact with the public and co-workers in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Display an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of City employees, the general public and other organizations.
  • Communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance.
  • Complete assignments in a timely fashion.
  • Understand and comply with all rules, policies and regulations.

Physical Efforts
While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds and rarely lifting/carrying up to 20 pounds. Also, the employee is frequently pushing/pulling up to 10 pounds. The noise level is occasionally moderate and rarely loud. Work includes sensory ability to talk, hear and touch. Work in this position also includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Employees will sit, stand, walk and runn. Working Environment
The work environment will include inside conditions, outdoor weather conditions, extreme temperatures and in wet and humid conditions. Work includes protected exposure to bodily fluids.
