Job summary

City of Boise Parks and Recreation is seeking a Senior Ice Skating Instructor to teach youth and adults in a fun, supportive, and safe environment. You will introduce beginners to basics and help skaters refine skills, creating engaging lessons that make learning on the ice enjoyable for all ages.

Applicants must be 18+, a US Figure Skating Registered Coach, and complete CER Class C within six months. The role requires at least 5 years of teaching experience in USFS Basic Skill or ISI weSKATE,

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be a U.S. Figure Skating Registered Coach through a recognized figure skating club or as an individual.
• Must complete CER Class C within six month of date of hire.
• Must have a minimum of 5 years teaching experience within a U.S. Figure Skating Basic Skill Program or ISI weSKATE program.

Responsibilities

Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be a U.S. Figure Skating Registered Coach through a recognized figure skating club or as an individual.
• Must complete CER Class C within six month of date of hire.

Licensing And Other Requirements

Applicants must be able to pass:

• City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation

Provides ice skating instructions and advice for groups. Ensures a safe and effective learning environment for all participants.

Answers questions from participants and parents as required in accordance with City of Boise Policies and procedures.

Physical Efforts

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds and rarely lifting/carrying up to 20 pounds. Also, the employee is frequently pushing/pulling up to 10 pounds. The noise level is occasionally moderate and rarely loud. Work includes sensory ability to talk, hear and touch. Work in this position also includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Employees will sit, stand, walk and runn. Additional physical efforts include: incumbent will be frequently skating on ice.

Working Environment

The work environment will include inside conditions, outdoor weather conditions, extreme temperatures and in wet and humid conditions. Work includes protected exposure to bodily fluids.

This position works: evenings and weekends.
