Job summary

Atlantic Health in New Jersey is seeking a skilled HVAC Maintenance Technician to perform routine and preventive maintenance on hospital HVAC and refrigeration systems. You will assist with installation, inspections, troubleshooting, and documentation to ensure safe, compliant operation in a clinical environment.

The role involves maintaining logs, adhering to infection prevention protocols, and collaborating with Facilities Engineering teams. On-call duties and emergencies may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in routine HVAC and refrigeration maintenance, including filters, belts, motors, and coils.
• Support installation of new HVAC equipment and ductwork per specs and codes.
• Conduct inspections and report anomalies to shop supervisor.
• Troubleshoot HVAC equipment with guidance on thermostats and split systems.
• Maintain daily logs, service records, and CMMS entries.
• Keep work areas clean, safe, and organized after maintenance.
• Respond to routine temperature complaints and occupant requests.
• Monitor HVAC systems and report alarms to supervisor.
• Follow safety procedures and HVAC codes and regulations.
• Interpret blueprints and job specs for HVAC work.
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols and fire/life safety.
• Perform maintenance and inspections under supervision.
• Troubleshoot minor issues and report findings to supervisors.
• Maintain tools and equipment in safe, operable condition.
• Document work performed and materials used in CMMS; follow preventive schedules.
• Respond to basic service requests timely and professionally.
• Assist during emergencies or facility repairs.
• Collaborate with Facilities Engineering trades to support projects.
• Respond to work orders, emergencies, and on-call duties as required.
• Respond to emergency calls outside regular hours when required.
• Other duties as assigned by Management.
