Job summary

Joliet Public Schools District 86 is seeking an ELL/ESL Jr. Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year.

The role involves co-teaching with general education staff, planning with the ELL Coordinator, and supporting emergent bilingual students in a nine-month, non-exempt position. Ideal candidates hold an IL Professional Educator License with ESL Endorsement (K-8), WIDA certification, and demonstrated leadership and workshop experience.

Qualifications

• Illinois license with ESL endorsement for K-8 or equivalent.
• WIDA Certification to administer ACCESS 2.0 and related screener tools.
• Master’s Degree in Education preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership and strong public/community relations.
• Experience organizing and presenting educational workshops.

Responsibilities

• Assess English language proficiency of incoming students using WIDA screener and place appropriately.
• Provide comprehensible academic content and language to ELLs, consulting with general education teachers.
• Continuously assess language development to support literacy development.
• Facilitate cross-cultural understanding between ELLs and native speakers and among staff.
• Collaborate with the school community on ELL progress and interventions.
• Participate in professional development to improve performance.
