Placements24 is seeking a Junior Geotechnical Engineer to support geotechnical investigations, data analysis and reporting for energy and mining projects in Welkom, Free State. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering.
• Solid understanding of soil mechanics and rock mechanics principles.
• Some experience or coursework in geotechnical investigations and laboratory testing.
• Familiarity with geotechnical software is an advantage.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and conducting geotechnical site investigations, including drilling and sampling.
• Perform laboratory testing and analysis of soil and rock samples.
• Analyze geotechnical data to assess ground conditions and potential risks.
• Prepare technical reports summarizing findings and recommendations.
• Assist senior engineers with the design of foundations, slopes, and earthworks.
• Conduct field monitoring and support construction activities.
• Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards during fieldwork.
• Collaborate with project teams and clients to understand project requirements.
• Maintain accurate project records and documentation.
• Stay updated on geotechnical engineering principles and best practices.
