Job summary

Tetra Tech, Inc. in Pittsburgh, PA is seeking a Junior Geologist to join our Earth Sciences team. This entry-level position supports environmental assessment, investigation, and remediation projects with opportunities to grow in geology, hydrogeology, and data interpretation.

Travel up to 50% is expected as projects require fieldwork and collaboration with colleagues. You will work under supervision, perform field sampling, logging, and reporting, and gain experience with industry regulations

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology or a related technical discipline
• 0-2 years of experience
• Willingness and ability to travel as needed, up to approximately 50%
• Field experience including soil logging and sampling, installation of soil borings and monitoring wells, and aquifer testing
• Experience in hazardous waste site investigations and various sampling types is desired; remediation experience is a plus
• Experience performing Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments is a plus
• 40-Hour OSHA training with Hazmat is a plus; 30-Hour OSHA Construction Contractor certification is a plus
• First Aid and CPR training are a plus

Responsibilities

• Provide entry and/or junior level field and technical support on environmental assessment, investigation, and remediation projects, primarily in geology, hydrogeology, and data interpretation/visualization
• Under supervision, plan, conduct, and supervise fieldwork, sampling, design, construction oversight, operations, and maintenance, and report writing
• Perform projects in accordance with RCRA, CERCLA, UST, CWA and other regulations including progress reviews and results evaluation
• Review progress with management and assist in preparation of proposals and qualification statements
• Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards
• Pursue continuous professional development and maintain discipline, knowledge and awareness
• Work in a safe manner and report health and safety incidents and concerns
• Additional duties as required
