Job summary

Citi London is hiring a Junior Software Engineer in Generative AI Platforms. You will contribute to GenAI platforms, build backend services with Go, and collaborate with engineers, product managers and AI specialists to deliver scalable AI solutions.

You’ll work under mentorship, gain hands-on experience with cloud-native stacks, Kubernetes, and modern toolchains while shaping a long-term career in software engineering at Citi.

Qualifications

• Around 1–2 years of hands-on software engineering experience, internships, or strong academic projects.
• Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms and coding practices.
• Exposure to Go (Golang) or another backend language; Python is a plus.
• Basic understanding of React and TypeScript fundamentals.
• Understanding of REST APIs and modern application communication.
• Basic exposure to Kubernetes, OpenShift or containerised applications.
• Familiarity with databases such as MongoDB and Redis.
• Basic understanding of OAuth and JWT authentication.
• Awareness of Large Language Models and Generative AI with enthusiasm to learn more.
• Interest in RAG, context retrieval, fine-tuning and LLM-based app development.
• Basic awareness of secure coding practices and modern application security.
• Experience with CI/CD, monitoring or observability tools like Grafana or ELK is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development and support of Generative AI platforms, services and applications.
• Build components of products and platforms, including CLIs, SDKs and tooling.
• Write clean, tested, well-documented code.
• Work with modern backend technologies, including Go.
• Collaborate with senior engineers, PMs and SMEs to deliver solutions.
• Participate in pair programming, code reviews and collaborative development.
• Contribute to design discussions on distributed and scalable systems.
• Support the development and integration of LLM-based applications.
• Investigate bugs and improve reliability and performance.
• Develop understanding of cloud-native technologies, containers and Kubernetes/OpenShift.
• Contribute to testing and validation as platforms scale.
• Build knowledge of GenAI through hands-on learning and mentorship.
• Communicate progress clearly across teams.
• Stay curious and identify opportunities to improve software delivery.
