Wilson Construction Company, a premier utility contractor in the U.S., is seeking a Junior Estimator – Transmission in Corona, CA. The role supports senior estimators with cost take-offs, bid packages, and vendor quotes, while learning transmission line construction methods and software tools.

You’ll work with engineering, procurement, and project management teams, gain exposure to bid processes, and participate in site walks to understand field conditions.

Qualifications

• 0–3 years of progressive experience or internship background in construction estimating, engineering, or project control roles within heavy civil or utility construction.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil/Electrical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or equivalent combination of field/industry experience.
• Proficiency in MS Office suite (Excel, Word); exposure to MS Project, Primavera P6, or specialized construction estimating software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior estimators in performing detailed material, equipment, and labor quantity take-offs from engineering drawings and specifications.
• Help compile and organize bid documentation, scope alignments, and proposal packages for RFP submissions.
• Solicit, gather, and review material supplier and subcontractor quotes to support cost build-ups.
• Maintain estimating software databases, enter cost data, and assist in reviewing historical project costs.
• Participate in job walks, site assessments, and pre-bid meetings alongside senior staff to learn field conditions.

We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Junior Estimator – Transmission to join our regional office in Corona, California. This entry-to-junior level position offers hands‑on technical development and mentorship under senior estimating leadership, providing a strong career trajectory within EHV infrastructure construction.

Role Overview

Based out of our regional office in Corona, CA, the Junior Estimator will assist senior estimating staff in preparing accurate, competitive cost estimates and proposal packages for transmission line construction projects. You will learn utility construction estimating methodologies, assist with plan reviews and quantity take-offs, and collaborate with engineering, procurement, and project management teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Quantity Take-Offs & Cost Assistance: Assist senior estimators in performing detailed material, equipment, and labor quantity take-offs from engineering drawings and specifications.
• Bid Package Support: Help compile and organize bid documentation, scope alignments, and proposal packages for RFP submissions.
• Vendor & Subcontractor Outreach: Solicit, gather, and review material supplier and subcontractor quotes to support cost build‑ups.
• Data Entry & Analysis: Maintain estimating software databases, enter cost data, and assist in reviewing historical project costs.
• Constructability & Site Visit Support: Participate in job walks, site assessments, and pre‑bid meetings alongside senior technical staff to learn field conditions and right‑of‑way evaluation.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience Level: 0–3 years of progressive experience or internship background in construction estimating, engineering, or project control roles within heavy civil or utility construction.
• Education & Credentials: Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil/Electrical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or equivalent combination of field/industry experience.
• Technical & Software Skills: Proficiency in MS Office suite (Excel, Word); exposure to MS Project, Primavera P6, or specialized construction estimating software is a plus.
• Core Competencies: Strong analytical aptitude, high attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and an eagerness to learn complex transmission line construction systems.
• Location & Licensing Requirements: Must reside within a reasonable driving distance of our Corona, California regional office or be willing to relocate. Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel periodically to job sites as required.
