Qualifications

• Successful candidates will have demonstrated experience estimating transmission projects across multiple voltage classes, with a strong understanding of construction methods, labor, equipment, materials, access requirements, and scheduling considerations associated with transmission infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed labor, equipment, material, subcontractor, and indirect cost estimates for overhead transmission line construction ranging from 69kV to 765kV.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from engineering drawings, specifications, structure lists, bills of material, geotechnical reports, survey information, and other bid documents.
• Develop estimates for transmission construction activities including clearing, access roads, construction matting, foundations, drilled piers, structure assembly and erection, conductor installation, stringing, grounding, OPGW installation, and restoration.
• Estimate projects involving a variety of transmission structure types, including wood, steel, concrete, monopole, H-frame, lattice, and other specialized structures.
• Analyze construction methods, production rates, crew compositions, equipment requirements, and site conditions to develop accurate labor and equipment pricing.
• Evaluate right-of-way conditions, access requirements, terrain, environmental constraints, material laydown areas, logistics, and other site-specific factors affecting project costs.
• Develop and support bid schedules using Primavera P6 or other scheduling tools, incorporating construction sequencing, activity durations, crew requirements, and resource loading.
• Analyze schedule requirements and construction sequencing to ensure labor, equipment, material, and production assumptions are consistent with the proposed schedule.
• Solicit, evaluate, and incorporate vendor and subcontractor quotations into estimates.
• Review subcontractor and supplier scopes to identify exclusions, qualifications, scope gaps, and potential cost impacts.
• Analyze historical project costs, production data, and field performance to establish realistic productivity rates and estimating assumptions.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, owner meetings, project site walks, and internal estimate review sessions.
• Identify project-specific risks, schedule constraints, access challenges, environmental requirements, outage requirements, and other factors that may affect project costs.
• Prepare detailed bid summaries, scope narratives, clarifications, exclusions, assumptions, and supporting estimate documentation.
• Collaborate with engineering, procurement, scheduling, and operations personnel during the estimating process to validate quantities, construction methodologies, productivity assumptions, and constructability.
• Maintain and improve historical cost databases, productivity information, crew rates, equipment rates, estimating templates, and other estimating resources.
• Utilize B2W estimating software or similar platforms to develop, organize, and maintain detailed estimates.
• Support multiple concurrent bids and manage estimating deliverables to meet established proposal and bid deadlines

This is an estimating-focused position and does not include project management responsibilities.
