Georgia Junior Estimator / Takeoff Specialist – Site Construction

Location: Pooler, GA In-Office

Job Summary

The Junior Estimator / Takeoff Specialist supports the estimating team by preparing accurate quantity takeoffs and assisting with cost estimates for site construction projects. This role focuses on earthwork, underground utilities, grading, paving, and related civil scopes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and comfortable working with plans, specifications, and estimating software. Key Responsibilities

Quantity Takeoffs & Plan Review

• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from construction drawings and specifications
• Measure earthwork, utilities, paving, concrete, erosion control, and related scopes
• Review civil plans for accuracy, completeness, and potential conflicts
• Identify missing information and flag discrepancies to senior estimators

Estimating Support

• Assist in preparing cost estimates for bids and proposals
• Input takeoff quantities into estimating software and spreadsheets
• Help maintain historical cost data and production rates
• Assist with bid day preparations and revisions

Vendor & Subcontractor Support

• Assist in gathering pricing from suppliers and subcontractors
• Compare quotes and help organize bid tabs
• Maintain vendor and subcontractor contact lists

Documentation & Coordination

• Maintain organized digital and physical estimating files
• Support preconstruction handoff to project management teams
• Communicate effectively with estimators, project managers, and field staff

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or GED
• Basic understanding of construction drawings and civil plans
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic computer applications
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Preferred (Not Required)

• 1–3 years of experience in site construction, estimating, or field operations
• Exposure to earthwork, utilities, or heavy civil construction
• Experience with takeoff or estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Agtek, Trimble, HCSS, or similar)
• Construction Management, Engineering, or related coursework
