Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Junior Estimator in Irvine, CA to support preconstruction and estimating for complex commercial tenant improvement and technical construction projects across Southern California.

You will assist with estimates, review drawings and bid documents, solicit quotes from subcontractors, and help prepare bid packages while collaborating with project teams to understand constructability and cost impacts.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of construction estimating or internship experience.
• Bachelor's degree in CM/Engineering/Architecture or related field preferred.
• Experience in healthcare, life science, labs or tech interiors is a plus.
• Ability to read drawings, specs, and construction documents.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with estimating tools a plus.
• Eagerness to learn and grow into full estimating role.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparing estimates for commercial tenant improvement and technical construction projects.
• Review plans, specifications, scopes, and bid documents to understand project requirements.
• Solicit subcontractor and vendor pricing for assigned scopes of work.
• Help prepare bid packages, scope sheets, quantity takeoffs, and proposal documents.
• Support senior estimators with budgets, conceptual estimates, and hard bid pricing.
• Track subcontractor coverage and follow up to ensure complete and competitive bids.
• Review subcontractor proposals for accuracy, exclusions, and scope gaps.
• Participate in pre bid meetings, site walks, and internal estimate reviews.
• Maintain organized project files, bid records, and estimating documentation.
• Work closely with project management and field teams to understand constructability, schedule, and cost impacts.

• 1 plus years of construction experience, internship experience, or relevant estimating experience
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred
• Exposure to commercial construction, tenant improvements, healthcare, life science, lab, or technical interiors is a plus
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and construction documents
• Strong attention to detail with solid organization and follow up skills
• Comfortable communicating with subcontractors, vendors, project managers, and internal teams
• Basic understanding of construction costs, scopes of work, and trade sequencing
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office required
• Experience with Bluebeam, Procore, BuildingConnected, or estimating software is a plus
• Eagerness to learn, ask questions, and grow into a full estimating role

Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per year
