Job summary

Erwin Electric, Inc. is seeking Commercial Electricians/estimating support in the Sarasota/Tampa area. The role focuses on assisting the estimating team in preparing accurate electrical bids, reviewing plans, and managing quote requests.

Ideal candidates have 0–3 years of relevant experience, strong math skills, and proficiency in Excel and estimating software. Knowledge of Accubid is a plus; construction drawings familiarity is valued.

Responsibilities

• Assist Chief Estimator and estimating team with accurate electrical bids.
• Review plans, specs, and addenda to identify scope and project requirements.
• Enter material and labor data into estimating software.
• Solicit quotes from vendors and subs, compare pricing and scope.
• Prepare bid packages with scope descriptions, inclusions, and clarifications.
• Track drawings, addenda, quotes, and bid deadlines; attend pre-bid meetings.
• Support project handoffs with organized estimates and assumptions.

Job description

Erwin Electric, Inc. is an established electrical company, with an excellent reputation in the electrical contracting community since 1997. We are a W/MBE and DBE-certified electrical contracting corporation experienced in commercial, industrial, residential, and government work. Erwin Electric, Inc. is currently seeking Commercial Electricians in the Sarasota Area.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assist the Chief Estimator and estimating team in preparing accurate, competitive electrical bids
• Review plans, specifications, and addenda to identify electrical scope and project requirements
• Perform electrical quantity takeoffs and enter material and labor information into Accubid or similar estimating software
• Request, organize, and compare vendor and subcontractor quotes, helping identify missing scope and pricing discrepancies
• Help prepare bid packages, including scope descriptions, inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications, for review by the Chief Estimator
• Track drawing revisions, addenda, quote requests, and bid deadlines
• Participate in pre-bid meetings and site walkthroughs to understand existing conditions and project logistics
• Keep project files, vendor contacts, and pricing history organized and up to date
• Assist with project handoff by organizing estimate information and communicating scope and assumptions
• Work with the team to identify potential cost-saving alternatives for review
• Develop relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and general contractors, and participate in local industry events as needed

Qualifications

• 0–3 years of relevant experience; entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply

• Comfortable working with numbers, basic math, measurements, and drawing scales
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and an ability to learn estimating software
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Familiarity with construction drawings, particularly electrical plans, is a plus
• Electrical field experience, construction experience, or exposure to Accubid is a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business, Supply Chain, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a highly analytical field (Finance/Economics with a passion for construction)
