Job summary

APTIM is seeking an entry-level Environmental Scientist to support federal environmental investigation and remediation projects. You will work under project managers and collaborate with engineers, scientists, geologists, risk assessors, and health physicists.

The role emphasizes field data collection, work plan development, cost estimates, and data analysis with compliance focus, while learning field sampling methods and safety practices, and willingness to travel to sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental science or related field, completed or in progress.
• 0–2 years of internship, research, or academic project experience in environmental investigation or related areas.
• Strong interest in remediation, field investigations, treatment systems, and regulatory compliance.
• Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
• Willingness to learn field sampling methods, equipment operation, and data collection procedures.
• Ability to perform field duties outdoors, including uneven terrain, lifting equipment, and weather conditions.
• Must be able to wear PPE and travel to work sites, including overnight travel.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work on federal contracts.

Responsibilities

• Assist with collection, documentation, and organization of field data.
• Contribute to preparation of project work plans and deliverables.
• Assist with development of scopes of work and cost estimates for proposals.
• Develop and maintain spreadsheets, dashboards, and data-tracking tools.
• Assist in analysis and interpretation of environmental data using statistics and data visualization tools.
• Identify environmental risks and recommend remediation strategies to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Adhere to health and safety policies and work safely on site.
