Westinghouse Electric Co in Cranberry Township, PA is seeking an engineer for the Waste Management group. The role covers calculations, system descriptions, licensing documents, and procurement specifications. The position is hybrid with 2 days/week on-site at the Cranberry Woods facility.

You will collaborate with international teams and report to the Senior Manager Waste Management, supporting projects from design through decommissioning in global contexts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or chemical engineering from an accredited university.
• 0+ years of experience in engineering roles or internships.
• Knowledge about fluid systems design, nuclear waste management, or water purification systems preferred but not required.
• Experience with MATLAB and Python.
• Proficiency in additional languages besides English.

• Manage system/facility requirements for waste management and perform equipment sizing calculations.
• Collaborate with drafting to develop system diagrams (flow, instrumentation and control, general arrangement).
• Assist in preparation of proposals (technical descriptions, calculation of efforts, client requirement identification).

About The Role

Waste Management is an engineering group providing technical services for worldwide clients. These services are in the area of radioactive waste management, including waste collection, waste handling, waste treatment and packaging, and waste discharge. You will prepare engineering documents (calculations, system and operational descriptions, licensing documents, and procurement specifications)

This group offers process system design, unit process design, regulatory/licensing interface support, bid development, and overall facility design integration. We support clients in new reactor development, operating plants, and end of life decommissioning/dismantling projects.

This position is a hybrid role 2 days/week on-site at the Westinghouse Global Headquarters facility in Cranberry Woods, PA in the Greater Pittsburgh Area.

You will report into the Senior Manager Waste Management.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage system/facility requirements for waste management, equipment sizing calculations, support of process optimization projects.
• Collaboration with drafting to develop system diagrams (flow, instrumentation and control, general arrangement and layout)
• Participation in preparation of proposals (technical descriptions, calculation of efforts, client requirement identification and management)
• Work in international teams (position based in US, collaboration with US and European technical and business teams)

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or chemical engineering from an accredited university or college
• 0 or more years of experience (full-time work experience or internships/co-ops).
• Technical interest, understanding of project priorities and teamwork abilities.
• We prefer knowledge about fluid systems design, nuclear waste management systems, or water purification system design (ion exchange, reverse osmosis, filtration), but do not require it.
• Experience with general programming languages (MATLAB, PYTHON)
• Proficiency in additional languages in addition to English
• We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. We estimate the base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon qualifications, to be 58,400 to 73,000 per year.
