Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the Cranberry Township team. The role involves applying the ASME Code and performing FEA on reactor vessel internals, translating requirements into compliant designs, and collaborating with systems and manufacturing to resolve issues.

You will qualify designs using ANSYS thermal and structural analyses, work with Westinghouse processes, and ensure safety, quality and schedule adherence in all projects.

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) with related experience.
  • Proficiency in ANSYS Workbench; familiarity with ANSYS Mechanical (APDL).
  • 0–2 years of experience required.

Your Day-to-Day
  • Perform calculations for and apply the ASME Code to the design and analysis of reactor vessel internals components using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and other engineering tools.
  • Execute design and analysis plans from preliminary through final design, translating performance and structural requirements into compliant engineering solutions using lessons learned and best practices.
  • Qualify component designs using ANSYS-based thermal and structural FEA, closed‑form analytical methods, and Westinghouse internal engineering.
  • Collaborate with systems, manufacturing, and component teams to ensure effective subsystem integration and resolve design and production issues.
  • Demonstrate strong technical ownership and accountability, delivering high‑quality engineering work that meets safety, quality, and schedule expectations.
Who You Are

As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, (alternate degrees such as nuclear, aerospace, structural engineering, etc. will be considered with relevant experience).
  • Proficiency in ANSYS Workbench and at least a familiarity with ANSYS Mechanical (APDL).
  • 0-2 years of experience required.

We are committed to transparency and equity in all our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $58,400 to 73,000.
