Job summary

ICF seeks an entry-level Energy and Climate Researcher to support a broad portfolio of energy, climate, and sustainability projects. The role is based in Crystal City (Arlington, VA) or Reston, VA with a hybrid schedule (two days in the office) and an anticipated mid‑$60k pay range, ideal for candidates graduating and starting in Summer 2027.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental studies, environmental policy, sustainability, engineering, earth and atmospheric sciences, economics, chemistry, mathematics, statistics, operations research, data analytics, public policy, computer science, cybersecurity, communications, or any related field.

Responsibilities

Conduct qualitative and quantitative research on energy markets, climate, resilience, sustainability, and related topics by gathering, organizing, and evaluating information from diverse sources.
Analyze large datasets using spreadsheets, databases, and programming languages to identify trends, evaluate outcomes, and support quantitative analyses.
Develop client-ready deliverables including reports, presentations, and data visualizations that translate technical information for varied audiences.
Support stakeholder engagement, outreach, and program implementation activities with project teams and clients.
Assist with project coordination, including meeting materials, task tracking, decisions documentation, and ongoing methodological improvements.
