Job summary

ICF’s Energy and Climate Planning Interns contribute to the development of innovative, analytical, high-quality products and services, typically working on multiple projects with all levels of staff. This is a full-time, 10-week internship beginning in early June 2027 with hybrid work options in Reston, VA or Arlington, VA.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 30 completed college-level credit hours by start date in Energy, Policy, Climate, Economics, Mathematics, Business, Operations Research, Engineering, or related field
• U.S. Citizenship is required per Federal contracts
• By start date, 9 graduate-level credits in related field preferred
• Bachelor’s degree completed preferred
• Strong interest in energy economics, policy analysis, and related areas
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical personnel
• Basic knowledge of R, Python or other coding languages
• Strong organizational and project management skills
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
• Working knowledge of US energy markets, policies, and technology

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced quantitative and economic analysis of energy and environmental markets
• Contribute to development and enhancement of ICF models and databases
• Evaluate impact of future regulation and assist client strategy development
• Write analyses for major corporate and government clients’ deliverables
• Support research synthesis reports, benchmarking, quantitative analysis and policy summaries
• Contribute to business development and marketing through market research and data analysis
