Secmation in Huntsville, AL is seeking an Embedded Software Developer / Engineer I to join a mission-focused team building embedded software and firmware for defense and national security applications. This early-career role emphasizes C/C++ foundations, hardware close work, and collaboration with experienced engineers across FPGA, RF, cyber and systems domains.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship and active DoD Secret clearance are required.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• Foundational embedded software or firmware development experience.
• Working knowledge of C and/or C++ for embedded systems.
• Familiarity with low-level hardware interfaces, device drivers, memory mapped I/O, peripheral interfaces, or firmware/software interaction.
• Ability to implement, test, and debug well-defined embedded software/features with guidance.
• Familiarity with embedded Linux environments and hardware/software debugging is preferred.
• Experience with FPGA/SoC platforms or similar programmable embedded hardware is desirable.
• Familiarity with Git or other source-control systems and coding/documentation practices.
• Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and willingness to learn new technologies.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills for collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Develop, integrate, test, and maintain embedded software and firmware for defense programs.
• Work close to hardware, debugging software/hardware interactions and evolving codebases.
• Collaborate with embedded software, FPGA, hardware, RF, cyber, and systems engineers.
• Contribute to unit, integration, and system-level testing and verification.
• Engage in code reviews, documentation, and configuration-management practices.
