Job summary

Burns & McDonnell, in Atlanta, GA, seeks an Assistant Substation Engineer to support the design of high-voltage substation projects under supervision of a licensed PE. You will help prepare design deliverables and adapt designs to budget and client needs.

You will assist with calculations, sketches, cost estimates, and field inspections while applying IEEE, NESC, and other industry standards to ensure project success and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field from an accredited program.
• ABET accreditation and EIT certification preferred.
• GPA 3.0 or higher preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design of substation projects from concept through completion.
• Assist in preparation of substation design packages including layout, relaying, and protection.
• Assist in development of substation calculations (insulation, grounding, voltage drop, etc.).
• Assist in preparation of design sketches, cost estimates, BOMs, and other deliverables.
• Apply IEEE, NESC, and industry standards in design work.
• Assist with field inspections of substation facilities.
• Support data collection for project managers and client presentations.
