Job summary

Jobtailor in Minnesota seeks a junior Electrical Design Engineer to support renewable energy design efforts. You will assist in creating and revising basic design drawings with guidance, and perform simple calculations to support design decisions.

You will collaborate with senior engineers, apply NEC basics, and help ensure compliance across solar PV and BESS projects while developing skills in AutoCAD and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 0–2 years in electrical design or related engineering.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar drafting software.
• Basic understanding of the NEC.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Strong attention to detail in calculations and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Assist in creating and revising basic design drawings with guidance.
• Perform basic engineering calculations to support design decisions.
• Prepare reports, calculations, and deliverables that meet technical standards.
• Review personal work for accuracy and contribute to team quality control reviews.
• Research and apply state and local design codes and ordinances for compliance.
• Learn to apply engineering principles to site designs and critical problem-solving.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to gain exposure to project coordination and technical challenges.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams, providing project-specific design criteria as needed.
• Contribute to renewable energy projects, including solar PV and BESS, power studies, transmission, and substations.
