Job summary

APTIM is seeking a junior Electrical Engineer in Knoxville, TN. You will work in the initial planning and design phases of projects, covering power distribution, lighting, grounding, lightning protection, backup power, instrumentation, controls, and fire detection systems.

Responsibilities include developing conceptual designs, performing calculations, creating detailed drawings, and ensuring compliance with NEC, IEEE, NFPA, and ANSI. Travel may be required for field assignments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from ABET‑accredited school.
• 0–4 years related experience (entry to junior level).
• Familiarity with NEC, IEEE, NFPA and ANSI codes and standards is a plus.
• Willing to travel for infrequent field assignments.
• Good verbal and writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual design, perform calculations, and perform system studies.
• Develop detailed electrical drawings.
• Ensure conformance to applicable engineering codes and standards as well as company policies and procedures.
• Coordinate with and consult other engineers and designers to engineer, lay out, or detail components and systems and to resolve technical and other issues.
• Collect and interpret engineering data, compile data for project reports, assist in proposal efforts, document technical data for management review, assist with labor/material estimates and design packages for clients.
